about
Design has finally permeated the consciousness of the everyday consumer. Good design is often drowned in a sea of decorative, derivative products that answer questions never asked or answer them poorly. My ultimate goal in every project is to find the most beautiful solution to a problem. A solution can be perfectly engineered but artless, without a soulful connection. Likewise, a beautiful idea that is insensitive - to function, to economics, to the earth - cannot be called a solution. I have ten years of experience leading highly succesful, innovative ideas from inception to market in areas as wide ranging as consumer electronics, soft goods, environmental design, mobile entertainment, packaging and professional equipment. These include the newSony/News Corp LED screen in Times Square, the world's first 4K digital cinema system, and collaborations with Ford Motor Company. I'm accustomed to fast, fluid schedules, interdisciplinary teamwork, and overseeing engineering development in Asia and Mexico.

Born in New York, 1978Education Center for Creative Studies, Detroit 1998-2001, Transportation, Product and Interaction Design. BFA Industrial DesignUniversity of Michigan, Ann Arbor 1996-98, Industrial Design, Fine ArtsExperienceSenior Industrial DesignerSony Design Center, Santa Monica, Ca2004-CurrentIndustrial DesignerSony Design Center, Park Ridge, Nj2001-2004In my ten years of product development experience, I’ve led numerous ideas to production; projects as varied as 40-foot-tall HD signage for Times Square, devices for the youth and outdoor market, hugely popular televisions for Latin America and Brazil, fashion accessories and soft goods, internet services and hardware, environments for CES and Sony Music Headquarters, brand identity and strategy, and mobile audio together with Ford and Visteon. From initial research, concept ideation, sketching and prototyping, through to final engineering, packaging and retail, I have deep, hands-on experience in all stages of the product development process. For most of my career I've been a part of a very small team within a vast multinational corporation. That has meant indispensable access to Sony's engineering and marketing resources combined with a nimble size that has allowed my team a certain degree of autonomy and the ability to move beyond divisions, identifying and acting on opportunities otherwise missed.Application EngineerOpticore Inc., Troy, Mi1999-2001A Swedish software company specializing in real-time 3D visualization for the web, design simulations, and commercial applications. Clients include General Electric, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Volvo, Jaguar, Audi, Bertone, and Nokia among many others. Using raw CAD data supplied by manufacturers, photorealistic environments and models can be produced that can be modified in real time - even while fully rendered. I was reponsible for creating presentations demonstrating these features, as well as aiding in software development and creating marketing material.SkillsExperience in many CAD programs with a concentration in Alias and Solidworks.
